DRIVER'S PROFILE
DOUG DELFEL
#01 Extreme Contact & Super Figure 8 |
| Driver's Name: |
Doug Delfel |
History
Doug has been racing figure eight since 1974. He has
had several highlights over the years. In 1999 he broke the F.E.A.R.
all time speed record of 17.567, a record that had been held by
Norman Litts since 1979. Doug turned a 17.245 three years prior to
the repaving of the figure eight track. Since 1990, Doug has
consistently finished as a top 20 contender. He has earned 2 season
championships. His first was in 1999, after 25 years of racing, and
then again in 2002. The 2002 season has proved to be his best ever,
as he won 7 main events. “the Grizz” is trying to wind down his
racing days, but after 30 years it is hard to stay away. Doug is
still striving to win the “figure eight nationals” or the “60
minutes of F.E.A.R.”. He doesn’t watch much television, except for
NASCAR, and he prefers to listen to classic rock. He says it must be
his age. When “the Grizz” is not racing, he is remodeling the old
homestead, or working.
