SUMMER FEAR NEWS: Good news and bad news for FEAR
members, Figure-8 racers and fans...I just got the word from Terry and
Lex that Evergreen Speedway is going a different direction on Saturday,
the 5th of July. Originally scheduled to be a "regular" night for us,
along with Hornets, Bombers and some "left over" crashing, the racing
surface was guaranteed to be a mess from the big night before, with a
weak holiday crowd count to boot. They were recently offered the
opportunity to promote a big time "Super-moto" (motorcycle) qualifier
race for the X GAMES that weekend instead. The GOOD news is that for the
first time ever that I, or Doug "the Grizz" Delfel can remember, we
figure 8 racers have the ENTIRE 4th of July weekend off! The bad news is
that it was initially the only weekend I could get our Club historian,
Tom Claibourn, to bring all of his cool stuff over the mountains for the
FEAR43 "reunion" picnic, which sadly must now be cancelled. We hope to
reschedule the reunion, perhaps at the Nationals in August, so if you,
or your sponsor want to chip in on the event, just let me know!
Mid-season Championship night is coming up next week, on the 28th. It
used to be a bigger deal when we would "clean the slate" and start the
point battle over. Lots of "first half" trophies and beer drinking were
a BIG part of the Sunday picnic, while extra laps and trophies were
always a big highlight of the actual night… Good times, indeed! A big
thank you, and good luck to Mr. Jon White, the longtime owner of Cascade
Auto Wrecking. An "Old-timer" member of FEAR, a former racer and sponsor
of so many of us over the years, Jon had to close his doors a few weeks
back. His logo will remain on our sponsor link list so members and
friends can remain updated as to the future of Cascade. After a month of
0 responses, I am closing out the classifieds section of our website. If
you have something to sell, check out the Evergreen ad site- or
craigslist, my personal fave. And I’m still seeking a major sponsor for
this site; give me a call if you want to help. Have a fun and safe
summer, and I'll see you at the track, when the fun continues...except
